What Really Happens on a Lab Day

Ask anyone on our team what a Lab Day looks like, and you'll probably get the same answer: it depends.
No two shoots are ever exactly alike because no two brands have the same story to tell. A restaurant lunch rush looks completely different from a product shoot, and a law firm creates content differently than a boutique hotel. That's what keeps every Lab Day exciting and why we never approach them with a one-size-fits-all mindset.
Every shoot starts with a strategy, but what happens next depends on the brand. Some days, we're at a client's location capturing the energy of their team, customers, and day-to-day operations. Other times, we're welcoming clients into our studio or creating content entirely in-house with products they've shipped to us. Wherever we're creating, the goal stays the same: build content that feels authentic to the brand and natural on social media.
The way we capture that content changes, too. Sometimes we're behind a professional camera creating polished brand photography. Other times, we're filming on a phone because that's exactly how the content is meant to be experienced. Most Lab Days are a mix of both. We balance high-quality visuals with social-first content that feels relatable, giving our clients a library of assets they can use across different platforms and campaigns.
Of course, there are always the moments that never make it into the final post. Team members jumping in to hold a light. Someone testing a trending audio between takes. A product being moved an inch to catch the perfect lighting. Conversations with employees that spark an entirely new Reel idea. Those behind-the-scenes moments aren't distractions from the process, they're part of it.
By the end of the day, we've captured much more than photos and videos. We've documented the personality of a brand, created content with purpose, and built a collection of assets designed to keep telling that story long after the cameras are packed away.
That's what a Lab Day really is. A day of collaboration, creative problem-solving, and storytelling, all built around one simple idea: great content should feel as real as the people behind it.
